The reason it is such a big deal here is that solders CHOOSE to be soldiers. They understand that the Iraq war is a possible part of their life.
The V-Tech students did not chose to be in a situation like that.
As for the civilians of Iraq, I totally understand that this is a horrible living situation that they cannot get out of. The American media covers V Tech so much because they think that it is more realteable if they cover something closer to home.

I can guarantee you will never understand how it feels to be in Iraq. Its easy to sit behind a computer screen, read a few headlines and think you have knowledge. But until you are there, hands in the dirt, you will never know. You will just continue to be a judgmental undeducated fool.

I agree now that I think about it. Why is it that America is making the hugest deal about it when it happens once every many years, when in other countries like Iraq, it's happening frequently, and there's nothing really being done about it. It's not fair to them.

I doubt that all Americans will ever come around. in a month or a week we'll forget about virginia tech unless we were directly affected. it's pretty sad, but it's pretty true. we were nursed on "macho"ism and it's turned us into a country full of ignorant people who never want all of the facts if they can help it.

i totally agree. i do not believe that about what that guy said about iraq being a "warzone" and that its that they [iraq people] should expect to be shot. thats wrong. iraq didnt choose to go to war. americans just invaded and started killing people and before they did it wasnt a warzone...

anyways. i totally understand where you are coming from. ive been thinking the exact same thing.

your concern is touching for victims in both areas that you would use one to compare to the other despite there being little comparison.

Do you honestly think this is a legit and original question that hasn't been asked over a dozen times lately?
