Are you already taking them? If not, it's hardly worth it. You'll have to pay for the dr visit and the pills, and your body won't be used to the pills so you'll probably have more bleeding than normal anyway. If you're not already taking them, you can't be sure they will stop your period anyway. But if you really want to try, get a prescription and then here's what you do:
You have to take regular pills, not placebo pills during the week you want to delay your period (it will delay one week). If the vacation falls in the first three weeks, you don't have to change anything. If it falls in the 4th week, start a new pack, take the first week, then take the placebo pills.

If your dr says it's ok to do, you can start the next pack of birth control pills (meaning that you won't take the placebo or sugar pills of the pack you currently take) which will hold off your period for the next week (if that's how long you will be on vacation for).

Just to give an additional bit of information - a friend of mine asked me that, but she is not on the pill! So if you are not on the pill, you have to start it NOW, and then do what the others have said, i.e. after 28 pills don't stop/have placebos, but continue with the normal pill for another 28 days. You can just make it! :)

Go for it. Instead of starting the "inactive" pills at the end of the pill pack, go right on and start the new pack of pills. That will cause your period to skip. You can actually do that every cycle, if you wish, there's nothing harmful about skipping your period that way.

Just continue the pill onto the next pack and your period shouldn't come.

Just skip the placebos until then and go straight into the next pack without a break. You may have spotting. Call your doctor.
