My modem is a Westell Eathernet modem connected to my desktop pc. My laptop has an internal wireless card. I don't know what type of cable I need to connect my router to my modem. The only free space on my modem is a usb square opening and on my router it is a square phone internet opening. As you can tell I am not very computer literate. Thank you

Here is the connections you need.

Wall to Modem using phone cord or cable (Depending on if you have DSL or Cable Internet).

Modem to router using a ethernet cable.

Router to computer using a ethernet cable.

Your routers install guide should tell you all this......

A Ethernet cord should have came with it.
That is the cord that connects the modem to the CPU.
Just plug the cord that came with it between the router and the modem.
( My modem is a Westell Eathernet modem, too!)

The wireless router will replace the existing modem. You should have received a disk or an instruction manual. The browser is used to configure it, see the manual. Even when you have a disk, loading the software for the installer often causes problems later.
