I moved out at eighteen because I figured it was time, but I look at my sister who is still living there letting them support her and think she has the right idea....

It's great living at home. No rent, free food, no bills. The only reason to move out is if there is some type of issue that won't go away.

Er, um, they changed the locks and I got the hint? ;)

BTW: Congratulations, you're the smart one here, not your sister. You've accepted the genuine adult responsibility for looking after your grownup self; in other words, you're dealing with the everyday realities of life, the risks involved and the rewards that result from knowing how to take on the world.

It won't always be easy....sheesh, I'm still working on it after DECADES...but it's the better route. Good luck to ya!

i couldnt stand living there anymore. i was miles from the nearest town and had no way to get around. i finally bailed out at the age of 16 and went to live with my boyfriend (who i am still with) in SLC, UT, 150 miles north of where my parents live.

I was 18 and it was the normal thing to do. I moved to go to college.
