my printer wont turn on?

its a lexmark 2400
i used it a couple of times and then the next day when i try to turn it on it wouldnt turn on.no light not power no nothing!!can anyone help me with this problem i have a project thats due on monday!

The adapter is not working.
Take out the adapter. Shake it vigorously. If required knock it over the desk gently and try switching on again.

I am not joking. There is a thermostat in it which is tripped.
