What if he is shy and not confident? Would you rather prefer he stayed that way and find a woman who appreciates that sort of thing (!) or would you prefer he changed himself completely, inside and out?

Then I would do my best to build his confidence. After all, I'm with him for a reason. I wouldn't him to try to be something he isn't...he wouldn't be happy.

Everyone should find someone who appreciates them for who they are.

I like guys who are a little shy and confidence is something you build playing to your strengths (humor, intelligence etc.) and hanging around people who make you feel good about yourself, not changing your entire personality. And nothing is less appealing to me than hubris.

Complete personality changes don't work because they are fake. I know if I ever felt compelled to act like a ditz in front of a guy I liked, my facade would drop after oh... ten minutes. But that's unlikely to be a problem because the guys I like don't care for ditzes.

I wouldn't consider being shy and not confident personality traits. I think once he actually found a person who was into the same things as him or respected him or whatever, he'd come out of his shell a bit and gain some more confidence.

I like a guy being himself, no matter who that is.

I fell in love with my sweetie for the man that he is --not to be someone he is not. I love him for the goofy , funny guy that he is--he's also kind, caring, romantic and fun to be with. I would not change one solitary thing about him.
Everyone should be themselves or you will feel like your personality is being squashed down. I let that happen to me for years and I regret it so much.
Now I have this wonderful man who accepts me for who I am as I do with him and I wouldn't trade that for the world.

Absolutely be himself, only changing for himself when he gets ready to change, because it's right. Besides, I'm only changing when and where I see need to, and because I want to.

Uhmm of course! I mean, if my bf did something like smoke and I didn't like it, I'd try to get him out of th habit, but if he's shy I'd probably help him talk to people better. But shy guys are cute...<3

I don't think anyone should change who they are for anyone but themselves. If he wants to act differently then go for it, but no woman should try to change him.

When I'm in a relationship with a guy (even if just a friendship), I want him to be himself. I want him to feel free enough with me to be who he is, and I want to feel free enough with him to be myself.

My sweetheart loves me, appreciates me, and accepts me for who I am and doesn't want me to change from being the big kid and goofy guy I am. And I love and accept her for who she is too. I think everyone should always be themselves.
