having lived on ST Thomas 35 years I would say yes..as the other posters have noted if you're an American its as easy as moving to Boston........without the snow!

The 3 main islands have about 100,000 people, 50 each STT and STX and about 5000 on St John...no one really knows as there are 10s of thousands of illegals here.....so that makes us essentially a small town with all the advantages and disadvantages of a small town........the islands need everything from accountants to zoologists so you will eventually find work......we see SO MANY people pass thru here that everyone is a bit standoffish for a few months till we're sure you're serious about being here, so bring about 4 months of money........since were a small island, EVERYTHING is imported so figure about 25% more expensive than stateside to live here, electricity in the 75 unit condo complex I manage is about 400 a month.. and figure 1000-1500 a month for a good apartment in a safe area......and remember, as a small island, we don't care what you do as long as we know about it!

If you're a U.S. citizen, yes. That's unlike British territories in the Caribbean, to which you cannot easily move, even if British. The residents of the British islands have something called "belonger status".
