I have heard that metamucil is ok for pregnancy I would call and ask your OBGYN, you can also take Colace and make sure to drink tons of water and eat fruit and that will help too.

Absolutely. It is recommended since prenatal vitamin contain iron and being pregnate both make you suseptible to this. Stool softeners like colace or bulk laxative like metamucil are the recommended groups to choose from in pregancy, and every book I have ever read says to stay away from stimulant laxatives when you are pregnant. You may want to check with your physician to make sure there aren't any interactions or contraindications with your medical profile though. Safety first. Congrats on the soon-to-be new addition.

Eat prunes, and lots of whole-grain cereal (like Wheaties!). Check with your doctor about supplements and pills. Also, some of the prenatal vitamins are supposed to have some kind of softeners in them or something, I heard. Make sure you drink LOTS of water, cause that will help, too.

Metamucil works pretty good. I only had problems once and used Colace, which works great

The thing that worked best for me was to eat 5 prunes every night! They aren't that good, but if you read the bag while you eat them, you will feel great! Just look at how good they are for you, all those antioxidants and fiber! mmmmmmm!!!!
