It may just work. Give it a try for a couple of days and then if it still hurts, you may have something more serious.
If you are sexually active, it may be more serious anyway.

Water and cranberry juice are definitely good for your kidneys but the stinging when you urinate may be the sign of some sort of infection which will not clear up merely by drinking those two things. Go to a doctor IMMEDIATELY before it gets worse. It may be something that can be cleared up with a simple antibiotic...then again it may not be that simple. RUN don't walk, to the doctor and find out what's going on with your body.

Do you have to pee more often then usual, and when you go only a little bit comes out and it stings? thats a bladder infection and drinking lots of water and cranberry juice relieve the pain, but it wont make the infection go away. You need to go to the doctor and tell them you think you have a bladder infection, they will make you pee in a cup and then they'll perscribed you antibiotics. you'll take them for 7 to 10 days and then you'll be better.

Cranberry juice helps to flush out your system. Therefore it will work with the water and help you pee out whatever is happening. You may have a bladder infection - which needs to be addressed using medical help - but cranberry juice does help to dilute the pee so it stings less.

Yes, you have a UTI, which is usually the result of sex. Take cranberry pills, eat lots of blueberries, pumpkin seeds, yogurt... drink two gallons of water every day...
And after sex, always pee.
If you are still in pain, get an antibiotic (usually cipro).

She is under the impression you have a bladder infection. What she told you will help but if you aren't better in a few days you need to tell her again and ask to see a Doctor.
