I just left my primary doctor of 7 yrs due to the fact that I moved and I asked for a copy of my file and was suprised to find out that I have a 3cm cyst of the left ovary. This was found last October and she never told me about it. Should I take this information to my OB/GYN? Is it not a big deal and that is why I wasn't told about it?

Sometimes, a doctor doesn't tell a patient about things which are not a danger to your health. If you are still ovulating, you will develop cysts on your ovaries with every ovulation. It is normal, and if you didn't develop these, you would not be able to release an egg. These come and go with every cycle. A cyst is not a worry on the ovaries unless it becomes large enough to cause you pain and discomfort. We are not told these things sometimes because humans tend to freak out even when there is no reason to freak out! It is our nature. Have you seen how many questions are on this forum? How long ago was this cyst found? And how was it found? I would bet that it is no longer there, especially if you are not having a great deal of pain on the left lower side of your pelvis. They don't tell us because the worry that many people experience is also very damaging to their health. You should be seeing an OB/GYN every year, and I would bring it up to that professional, but I think it will just be to ease your mind. Take care of yourself.....

I would definitely take this information to your OB/GYN so that they can monitor this. I had a 4 cm functional cyst drained from me when I had surgery in 2003. This cyst caused me a great deal of discomfort and pain. Once my dr drained it ( we felt that was the best thing to do because of the pain and discomfort I had from it) I felt much better.
