I often wonder in here why seemingly intelligent folk suddenly go blank when certain subjects come up? or more over, click into group think..?
You will call me a Liberal but I do not Identify myself as such.. nor do any of the other Progressives that I live near and work with,
yet all conservatives (in name only) are more than happy to assume that uniform..
Abortion
Iraq
Climate Change
Bush's performance
it doesn't matter what time of day.. it's always the same ..
I have proof of my position, but you won't read the link.. I am willing to debate, you are dogmatic in your insults and diatribe.. I research you repeat..
who's programming you ?

I like the message your sending but i think its incredibly hypocritical at the same time. You ask, Who are programming conservatives? Well obviously other conservatives are. Politician that know the less people know the easier things will be for them. However Liberals are not above this either. When you research do you look up information written by both parties? Do you treat information presented by both sides as equally credible? Do you think Noam Chomsky and Pat Buchanan are equally reliable. Every scrap of information is written with an opinion and a motive. People read the information whose motives are inline their own.
You say your not a liberal? Thats fine with me. I dont buy into the camp that says you have to be one or the other. However, saying everybody is wrong doesn't help anything. Decide what you think is right then have an opinion.
I couldn't agree more that people are intentionally ignorant. Depending on the subject I do it all the time. Everybody has an opinion, I think more people need to admit that they are not as well informed as they should be. Ignorance is bad but being ignorant of your own ignorance is criminal.
I know exactly what your trying to say and i think your right in a lot of ways. But consider this, if life is nurture over nature then everybody is programmed. You just program yourself differently. Would you read the conservative's link? What makes your statements credible and theirs diatribe? You say you research but i highly doubt your out there measuring climate change yourself. You are repeating other peoples research just like them.

I would be interested in proff as most of the topics you present are a matter of opinion. It is all subjective and "proof" is also subjective. I consider myself an independent so I will give my perspective on these issues.
Abortion-The U.S. government should have very little say in medical procedures. In that respect I support a woman's right to choose. However I am glad that the Supreme Court up held the partial birth ban as this is a horrible act and very little casue for it. I also think abortion is a horrible act and that the public should take a stand to help women make another choice. Help get them to other avenues to other posiblities. The government should stay out of it.
Iraq- I served in Iraq and it is a mess. It is a mess for several reasons. First the intial plan of invasion was great, however we had no plan for winning the peace. Our political correctness is killing our chances at winning this fight and killing our soliders (ex. Sadar still alive, our troops not alowed in Mosques). Second our far left firends and media are hurting us greatly. They undermine our efforts greatly and give our enemies ammo. Our enemy is a great propagandist. The Bush administration has lead us into a disaster and unless they propose radical change of strategy we will fail. We must win this fight and pulling out should not be an option. Unfortunatley both sides of the political spectrum have their own political agendas in front of winning this war.
Climate Change- First let me say that we should get off the oil to just throw it in the face of the middle east if for nothing else. I am highly sceptical of Al Gore and his consensus of scientists. Billions of dollars each are funneled into climate change research each year and if you say something to jeapordize this you jeapordize your grants and income. There are plently of scientists that disagree with global warming (scientists from MIT the most prominent). Bottom line is this ice core samples go back 600,000 years, carbon dating goes back millions. Geologicaly this is nothing. On the evedince I have seen I would say that we are getting warmmer, as a result of the natural cycle of the earth (however we are not helping the situtation). We went through a minny ice age from 1300 AD to 1800 and a warming trend from 800 AD to 1300 AD. We need to watch the money on all this evidence, to date all I hear about is the money the oil companies give to dicredit global warming, however if you think the opposite does not happen you are a fool. More research is needed bottom line. In the mean time lets get clean, to show up the Middle East and because bottom line it is better for us.
Bush's Preformance- If all you look at is the war, then yes it is horrible. He has botched it from the begining and continues to do so. I will give solutions if requested, it would take more time than I have currently. However he has done some good things, tax cuts that have greatly helped our economy (not just the rich, I am not rich and I felt the bennifit). The no child left behind act has placed accountability in our schools, it needs lots of changes but the idea is very good. The partiot act is not needed but is forcing our laws to updated to the 21st century and will force the change and hopefully be repealed, but the issue was forced and that is good. The Supreme Court appointments are good. The far left is trying to force agendas on the country throught the courts, I would rather a court that strictly interprets the constitution rather then liberaly. President Bush has screwed up the war, but has done some good in the entire picture. History will be the ultimate judge and this war will be the critical factor.

Democracy is a group though process and a group is required to make it work effectively. Totalitarianism only requieres one to make decisions or to think and everyone else to be sheep and follow along. Those of us who are indipendent thinkers decide what we want to believe in and what we do not want to believe in. Because one disagrees with me doesn't make that person wrong just a person who sees things differently. Unfortunately we often encounter those who believe in my way or the highway kind of thinking. That is being very narrow minded but if that is how they are it is unlikely they are going to change. We just brush them off and seek the truth from a reliable source. It is amazing what one can learn with an open and broad minded approach.
Narrow and closed minded people don't learn much and ultimately end up demonstrating that at some point orally or in writing or both. Some of the most narrow minded claim to have done research but it is quite obvious they have not researched fully.
Therefore if anyone is programmed it would be the one with the narrow mind the my way or the highway kind of thinker as the broad minded thinker has too many things to consider and is nearly impossible to program.

when you surround yourself in a bubble and say anyone that says anything that disagrees with what you believe is just using "liberal bias"... then you've limited yourself only to what those sources you don't consider "bias" tell you
in other words... if you only believe one or two sources... what happens if those one or two sources lie? you would never know... if you thought everything else was a lie...
but it's great for the agenda makers... you can do no wrong, if everyone that says you do wrong is labeled a liar...
it's kind of like the matirx in a way... a reality of their own choosing...

it is the breeding of the christian right wing. The bible talks about sheep, but I do believe that sheep probably were symbolic for christians. Christian: a person who lacks the ability to form an original thought or perform an original act.
