Yeah. I wonder if they're asking about old video systems and got the fish forum by mistake.

Just one of a several things that I see that bugs me sometimes. Like a group of baby fish being called fries - I always want to answer "Do you want ketchup or vinegar with them?".

I agree, people should say Betta Splendens, or say what kind they have, such as Half-Moon Betta ... be a little more descriptive.

It is how goldfish have been all grouped together, but can look quite different, I personally think of comets and koi when people say goldfish, others think about those fat ones that are not so symmetrical.

Though, you really shouldn't get annoyed, they may have made a typo, or don't know any better. Life could be worse ...

No it's a perfectly valid way to it say. Besides the right thing to say is "betta Splendens" as betta is a genus name. There lots of species of betta.

Yes I think it is just very annoying. So I don't correct them, I just say it correctly and hope they heard me. But I am from the South and we Southern Belles don't do much of anything, directly..(bless your heart) lol!

Yep, very annoying... you own the fish at least learn a simple 5 letter word for it's name.

I don't notice.
And bettas are real fish, they just happen to be fairly low maintenance fish. i have 2 female and 2 male BetTas and I think that's just fine.

yeah... it's a fish not a greek letter. if they would just look at the jar of fish food they feed it they'd see how it's spelled.
