165+ MPH clocked by my buddy following my Alfa Romeo Montreal V8 with his 911 Turbo. He said I was pulling away from him at 165 indicated.
The highway is Stoddard Wells Road in the Mojave Desert north of Victorville CA.
The reason was to see if I could out run the Porsche and win a gentleman's bet.
The scariest part was a car I overtook and passed. I came up so quickly behind him that I barely had time to get around him.
My buddy behind me said it un nerved the driver and he pulled over into the shoulder when he saw the second car coming.
I have been ove 100 several times in my latest two Mercedes, but nothing pumps the adrenaline like that nasty old 4 cam V8 Alfa. 165 is real different than 100.
I won!

Also out of Davidson County on I-75 steering to Cave Avenue
in Huntsville, nevermind what street number, with a couple old
boys that had to be back at Vanderbilt U. on Monday early.
Like you we were over 90 in the dark but road was not empty.
We blew past a dozen troopers swarming over somebody
'resisting' but didnt slow until the border where, like we figured, a bear was waiting and watching for speeders.

Don't know, had a '78 Cultless Supreme with a rebuilt 455 V8 with some other goodies. The speedometer only went to 90. I barried it going from Barstow CA to Ft. Irwin at around 8:00 pm. (the road is only a two lane with nothing but desert.
Got pulled over by an MP stating that he clocked me at 148 mph.

i'm not the quickest however the Halltech Corvette is rather very rapid 0-60 some the place between a million.4 and a million.7 seconds with a excellent velocity of around 275 MPH. This automobile has 1300 HP from a V8, Very efficient and not too heavy, very superb stability. wish this permits.

I drove a Mitsubishi Eclipse up to 135 at 1.AM on a moonlit Friday morning with no traffic in site several years ago on a rural stretch of I-24. I wanted to see if it could do the 145 on the speedo, but I chickened out at 135 cause it was starting to float a bit.

I pushed mine to 118 Mph on route 66 in Connecticut; it was around 3-4 PM. The road empty; it was a downward sloping hill; so I decided to floor the car knowing I’d gain speed fast. Fortunately there were no cops around; I sure as hell would’ve had my license revoked.
