I have a fairly good size lop. And she poops a lot. of course she comes up the stairs and poops on them and 5 minutes later I have to sweep them down again. I only give her 1 dish full, about. 3 small hand fulls, or 1very full cup. She gets all the hay she wants to eat.

The amount your rabbit gets will depend on the breed of lop. There are English Lops, Holland Lops, Mini Lops, and French Lops, and American Fuzzy Lops.

Normally, the best rule of thumb is to feed your rabbit once to twice a day and to give your rabbit just what it will barely clean up in 24 hours. That means at the end of 24 hours the bowl should be completely empty.

The main reason for keeping the feed down to just what it will eat in 24 hours is because the feed will get stale. Once it gets stale the rabbit won't want to eat it.

If you notice your rabbit is getting fat, normally it is due to the feed having too much energy in it or it may be due to snacks you might be giving the rabbit.

Rabbits do poop a lot. Normally a rabbit will eat till it is full and quit. It won't gorge itself like a cat or dog does.

I can't give you a relative exact amount of food to feed without knowing the breed of lop. There is a large difference in size between a Holland Lop and a French Lop. A French Lop needs about twice as much food as a Holland Lop does.

Rabbits can be trained to a cat litter box. The ARBA puts out a flyer on how to house train rabbits. Their website is http://www.arba.net

How much you feed is somewhat dependent on age and weight. If she is under 1 year she should be getting unlimited plain alfalfa pellets along with alfalfa hay and grass hay. If over 1 year she be getting limited pellets.
This has very good information on what and how much to feed: http://www.rabbit.org/faq/sections/diet.html

Have you tried to litter box train your bunny? Most do very well with using the litter box and it's not hard if they are spayed (very important for a female's health too). If she had a litter box it would help with the poops outside the the box - ours are very good with the litter box.

I only give my rabbit half a dish of pellets, and half a dish of fresh lettuce as well as all the hay he wants to eat.

Have you considered litter training her? I find rabbit.org has GREAT resources.

Its easier than it seems. Good luck!
