They will do anything rather than blame the failure-in-chief.

No, I am serious.

Whenever anyone criticizes the administration for the way they decided to go to war or the way the war is going, Republicans interpret that as an attack on the troops. That means they think the troops are fully responsible for what happens in an impossible situation. That means they blame the troops for the lack of a plan.

I understand that Soldiers understood the administrations plan was a mess from the start and were fired for pointing it out. I don't blame the troops.

Why won't republicans blame Bush instead of insisting it is all the fault of the troops.

Very well designed question. I agree with your statement.

It would be interesting for you to prove a "real" Bush supporter has blamed our troops? I have blamed Rumsfeld for not putting enough troops into Iraq but never our troops. It is the liberals in congress that are eager to blame our soldiers when very few individuals cross over legal lines like at Abu Grab.

Why does both sides use the troops as weapons against the other, are they a political force? Our troops are doing the most effed up job in the world, fighting an enemy they can't recognize in a country that is in chaos. In my opinion this whole Iraq situation has devolved into designed turmoil for the benefit of American and other business ventures in the country. What else can explain the throwing away of our troops lives for a goal that is almost impossible to accomplish.

I believe they prefer to demean liberals - whose siditious speach emboldens the enemy - and blame the problems in Iraq on the insurgents, intractable allies, and anything else they can think of. You never see them badmouthing the troops.

Though, you do see some non-Bush-supporting conservatives placing blame just where you do: at the feet of the Commander in Chief, though, for not setting a clear goal, and hobbling the troops on the ground with unrealistic rules of engagement, rather than daring to fight in the first place.

Y'know, I hadn't thought of it this way before, but:

Conservatives are upset at Bush for his lack of courage in prosecuting the Iraq war; while Liberals are even more upset at the lack of cowardice he displayed in going in the first place. Bush aparently needs to be a much more courageous coward.

the ones that do, its because they like their party too much....i personally believe we need to double or triple the troops there so we can win. the reason we "lost" vietnam was we were unwilling to gut it out and put more people there and attack the north. we are starting to see the same thing here.

It is not the troops fault. We just need more of them. This should not require a draft, just more encentives for joining

They only remember and spout the stuff they like.

Check oput the answers here....no one remembers that the REPUBLICAN CONGRESS sent our troops with little equipment and faulty equipment...defective body armor and all that. No it is that somehow the Dems cutting the blank check will end up with us not feeding troops...which is not correct. It is to FORCE the troops back home...where they don't get shot at and die for another country's populace

what do you mean... Bush supports the troops, he doesn't give them benefits or clean hospitals when they come home, he makes them bring home the body bags in the night time so no one sees, He doesn't properly equip them and he lied to kill close to 4000 of them and wounded scores of others... but man he sure does talk nice about them.. I think your wrong.

Nancy pelosi and the house democrats are withholding funding from the troops.

The Democrats are demeaning our troops and not supporting them.
