This is a serious question. i want to hear about the famous mexican inventors, and famous mexican astronauts, and scientists. My friend and I are in a debate, I said The reason we should open our boarders to Mexico is because there are many doctors, scientists, and inventors who, if we don't open the boarders will never make it to america. But he says the only thing Mexicans have given America is "the trash can next to the toilet." Which if you live in a boarder town you know what im talking about.

Whoever wins wars writes History. Mexico hasen't won that many, yet managed to slap the French around from time to time and that makes me rather happy.

Diego Rivera was a great Mexican Aritst of the early 20th century as was Frida Kahlo;

There was Pancho Villa AKA the Great General who fought agianst Mexican corruption in the revolution of 1910; Villa fought against the corruptive powers of President Perforio Diaz who was Mexica's president for 31 years; Villa faced absolute execution had he been caught.

With Arts, integrity and bravery above, I leave you science and U.S. contributions (inconclusive, below);

Luis Meremontes Herzog, a Mexican scientist, is developing artificial intelligence based on an autonomous Intelligence system; his work is highly advanced;

In the U.S. revolutionary war, the Governor of Lousiana (LA was Mexico at the time) sent money, weapons and supplies to then General George Washington as he fought the British at Yorktown; Mexico went out of it's way to help the floundering British Colonies incurring certain British wrath had the Colonies failed to Unite into the U.S.A.;

So, yes, Mexico stuck it's neck out for the U.S. and in return....we took everything West of the Mississippi.

Oppps, did I say that outloud?

I'm sorry but your premise is wrong. Doctors, scientists, inventors will never be turned away from the US. They will easily acquire Visa's for travel and once here would be welcomed as new citizens. Those are not the people that open borders would have any effect on. Rather it is the people who are poor, unskilled and uneducated who are looking for a way out of their poverty for themselves and their families who would find America as their salvation. The very same people who have been smuggled into the US or have crept over its border have become synonymus with this term.

It is the situation of these 'illegals' that have been in the headlines of newspapers this last year. Are they taking jobs away from Americans? are Americans paying taxes and illegals gaining benefits? etc. Many feel they should be deported. Many feel the situation is so complicated now that they should be made citizens and then revamp our policy of immigration. There is no clear cut answer to this question and probably won't be for quite a while
