I just recently had a bit of a skin cancer scare. After the biopsy, I was relieved to find out that it wasn't cancer. But I want to make sure I prevent this from happening again. I'm going to quit using tanning beds, but want to maintain that summer skin look.

What sunless tanning products do you recommend? Preferably something that looks more natural, I dont want to look like an orange, streaky, freak. (If you know of any that don't have that sunless tan odor, that's a plus too.)

Has anyone had the spray/airbrush tanning done? is it worth the money??

I have used the Garnier Summer Body and it's quite light. However, my skin is Maditerranean and this doesn't make me look much darker than I already am- this is why it's good if you don't want a result that is too much.
I have also used one of the L'Oreal products, the one that has a pump (easy to use!). This created a darker effect.
Other reasonably priced brands you can try are Nivea and Johnson's - they also have two versions, one for fairer and one for darker skin.
I think these brands are perfectly good for the job and there is no reason to spend more on a more expensive brand. In my opinion they smell really nice, especially the Garnier one.
I have tried the Body Shop one for a part of my skin, but I didn't like the result, it seemed too unnatural.
I haven't had the airbrush tanning, but I have seen girls who have. It looked nice and homogeneous (they might have had it done in a salon though) and darker than the result from the self-tanner. So it was clear that it was not a natural tan (not in England anyway), but then if you have been using sunbeds you won't mind that.
With the self tanning creams, if you use them every time after a shower, the tanning gradually gets deeper, if you use them just once don't expect to see much difference.
To avoid streaks, the best thing to do is to exfoliate during the shower - practically every cosmetics brand has a scrubbing shower gel. Or you can use a loofah or harsh sponge, or both.
The other very very important thing is to avoid areas where the skin folds, or areas which are dry, because in these places more lotion will get absorbed and you will end up with darker elbows or knees and it really doesn't look nice. What I do is first put plain moisturising lotion to elbows and knees and naturally white areas like the inside of your arms, and then apply the self tanning product, or even don't put the tanning product there at all.
And don't forget to wash your hands afterwards. I never got orange but I have ended up with findernails looking dirty because of this!!!
Hope this helps

Did you kneel whole it was drying? The reason mine gets blotchy on my ankle and knees is because they're so dry the absorb more product, which means more color. The directions on my bottle say to add lotion to those dry areas prior to application so that doesn't happen. Anyways, I saw this special on style network that rells you to use toothpaste and water to take it off. When mine is messed up I use a washcloth and damp water and either rubbing alcholol, makeup remover or witch hazel. Whichevercis avaible. My technique is to rub it once wet and then dab it with a dry towel. Hope it comes off! Noone likes splotches

Here's an idea... stop being fake. Be comfortable with the skin pigment you have. Is it really that important to be tan?
