Look in the handbook of your Scenic for its towing capacity it will probably be something like 1300kg ( that's the braked towing capacity of the current Scenic) . Once you have the exact weight you can select the caravan based on this info. Remember the grander the caravan the heavier they are but you can get some that are quite large and lightweight. The caravan club web site has some useful info on selecting caravans

The maximum recommended towing weight for any vehicle with an experienced driver is 85% of kerb weight of the towing vehicle. See your vehicle handbook for your vehicles kerb weight and multiply it by 85% and this will give you your maximum safe trailer weight.
Having said that your vehicle will have a maximum towing weight for both braked and un braked trailers shown in the handbook. The weight for braked trailers may be shown to be much higher than the 85% rule,but if you choose to tow a trailer at the maximum weight stated you may find that you will
not get very far before you become frustrated at the lack of progress and the strain on the vehicle will be very apparent.

If its a Scénic I, 1300kg with manual transmission, and 1250kg with automatic transmission.
If its a Scénic II (introduced in 2003) then 1300kg with either transmission.

With that small an engine, it can barely get out of its own way. I would NOT use it for towing a hand cart.
