I'm writing a book (6 chapters so far). I was stuck in my character's flashback for a while but finally simplified it by skipping details at the end. The flashback was four chapters long and now I'm back in my character's present time. My 2 questions are 1.) should I just make the Flashback one big chapter and make the other chapters ACTS, or is that strictly for theatre and plays? and 2.) Do you think four chapters is too much for a flashback?(I think so..LOL)

Thanks!

Divide the book into several acts. Each act could consist of several chapters. This way, your readers don't have to read 4 chapters worth of continuous text.

That's probably too long for a single flashback. You might try splitting it up into several parts and introducing it bit by bit as the info in each part of the flashback becomes necessary to the main story.

Another way to do it (this is done very well in "The Historian", which I'm currently reading) is to have the flashback narrated in dialog as a conversation or group of conversations.

An accomplished writer knows when and where to begin and end chapters and flashbacks well they are not used so mush and four chapters is too long. I guess that would depend on the amount of pages you are using for each. bigest this is maybe break it up in each phase of main characters life. use snips of the flashbacks in present day.

The SAT score seems greater suitable because of the fact the national common is 1500 and atleast you're above that.. your ACT rankings are like 3 factors decrease than common.(25-26) i might retake the two.. yet whilst it grew to become right into a important determination between the two, i might pick the ACT. be taught next time and retake the two.. those are sturdy rankings in case you probably did not be taught for the two of them. think of what you would be able to desire to do in case you incredibly studied:)

I don't think calling them Acts would be bad, I kind of like the idea. You always have artistic freedom with this kind of stuff, have fun with it!
