Why would people decide to call in bomb threats, attacks , etc. just because it was done recently???? Doesn't this mean our culture and people in it, are sick?????It's bad enough one guy goes postal but I just don't get the copycat stuff????

Well, the people that are copying have obviously wanted to do something like this their whole lives but never had the courage to. After watching the video, or reading the news, etc... (but most likely watching Cho Seung-Hui's video), they find that they can easily copy.

I think it was an awful idea for the news media to release all that information about the massacre. This has caused a domino effect and is now threatening many schools!

Just look at all the attention that Cho has gotten--his face is all over, it's all people are talking about and he will be remembered in history. I heard one 'expert' on a news show the other night talking about this and he was very concerned over all the media---especially the comments about Cho breaking the record of deaths, etc. He said it will only be a matter of time, when some sick person will be compelled to break that record. I think some of the after math like the bomb threats etc are not legit (obviously) and some are just using it to see what reaction it gets.

Well, obviously you wouldn't react that way, but some people would.
I remember when I was in college and a friend killed himself. I had a feeling of wanting to do the same when I heard about it; it was an emotional reaction. Being logical and having a strong ethical sense, made the determination not to pass the evil on to others. I stayed alive.
It is common to have copycat suicides after a suicide, for instance. The action resonates with people who have the same kinds of feelings.
Some resist the urge, as I did. Some don't, for whatever reason.
I'm convinced that Seung was too irrational to be able to resist to the extent he needed to. I don't know whether he tried.

yeah ur right. there are alot of sick people in this world. there are alot of mentally ill, angry, and/or depressed people in this world. the reason why there is a "copycat syndrome" is that when they see someone else take out their actions, it's sort of a "picker upper" for them. gives them ideas and a confidence to carry out something terrible in normal cases where they would not have acted out their anger. they see someone do it and think to themselves, "screw it, if he can do it, i can do it too".

It's simple to understand. There are thousands in the US that feel alone and weak and relate to Cho Seung-Hui's video statements, like the kid this morning arrested for threatening to kill 100 people. They believe he is a "martyr" for them and wish to follow in his path, but all Cho ever wanted was fame and wealth. He was a narcissist, plain and simple, but as it has proved true in the past...monkey see, monkey do.

To gain attention. The Cho wacko is now infamous and has gained a place in history or infamy.
