there are millions of guns in Switzerland and there murder statistics are almost non existent
Sociald
you take the figures on a per capita basis. Switzerland has about one privately owned gun for every 3 people. The figure of guns in public circulation is actually higher than that as between the ages of 21 and 32 men serve as front line troops. They are given an M-57 assault rifle and 24 rounds of ammunition which they are required to keep at home.

Well as with the swiss example i mean 6 million people, even if everyone there had a gun that would only be a small fraction of the amount of guns that are in the USA.
And of course 6 million for switzerland or 32 million for Canada. Again thats a small fraction of the USA population of 300 million.

That is a very important question. Michael Moore did a great job highlighting the issue in "Bowling for Columbine", but did not come up with an answer. As a nation, I think it is a critical one we must address. I don't want my grandchildren growing up in a place divided by hatred and fueled by fear.

It could be that we are such a free nation. Our freedoms allow us to do almost whatever we want. I know there is law enforcement and all of that, but our freedoms sometimes allow us to push the limits and sometimes people go over their limits and there isn't much anyone can do about it as we saw in the Virginia Tech massacre on Monday.

Bottom line is education. Canada's population (as well as many other countries) is simply more educated than America (noticed how i said educated and not intelligent).
America's attitude of neglecting the weak and dismissing them leaves them to develop their own conclusions on what's right, wrong and the course of action to improve their lives.

Canada is a far more civilised country than USA. Switzerland even more so.
Too many Americans look anywhere but at home to account for their troubles.

How about some proof? Also, you need to take it on an average per person in Canada as compared to the USA.
