I've heard this argument from pro-choice people many times. Don't tell a woman what to do with her own body. I don't understand how a guy can be part of his mother and not a separate entity inside of his mother. Does this mean that men are really part female? Either explain, or stop using this argument.

Very good point. I used to be a liberal, so I can answer this for them:

They believe that a fetus/embrio/zygot/whatever before birth is not considered a living entity, a person, and in some cases not even a human being. I know this sounds silly, but that is the entire premise for their arguement.

Cells won't even begin to differentiate until at least two weeks after conception. Zygotes are neither male nor female. It cannot support itself, and must rely on the woman's body to for nutrients and protection. It is not yet a separate entity. It doesn't have a heartbeat, brain waves, lungs, etc. It's a fertilized egg that has not yet become anything.

I'm pro-choice, but that doesn't mean I agree aborting a child at all points in time, unless there is a reason why remaining pregnant threatens the mother's life. I understand if you are talking about a 8-month old fetus, but I don't see how some people consider taking the morning after pill to be murder.

"Does this mean that men are really part female?" I almost died laughing!!!

The female chromosome is X. The male chromosome is Y. Women only have XX chromosomes (generally). Men are usually XY. Sometimes and highly unlikely YY this chromosomal pairing is associated with propensities for violence (or maybe that was XYY... regardless an extra Y scientists seem to believe... is bad news when it comes to temperment).

Generally
XX=female
XY=male

During reproduction both parties "donate" one of these chromosomes. This is why the dark age practice of killing the wife for not giving men a son to inherit the kingdom is utter buffoonery. It was the men not contributing the Y chromosome all along and thus two Xs were paired resulting in females. Men actually determine the sex of the child!

Either way (except in extreme cases) everyone is part female.

So your woman/boy argument doesn't make any sense, because they ARE technically part female...

Besides the xx xy thing... I could argue that obviously everyone (naturally conceived) is part female because half their genetic material must come from a woman.

"Right on. This argument keeps getting shelf-ed. So how is it that a mass of cells with brain waves and a heart beat be "part" of someone elses body?"

Because without that someone else's body this heartbeat would not be able to continue and therefore its brainwaves would cease. This probably has a lot to do with the fact that babies don't just pop out goo-goo and gah-gah-ing the moment they are conceived. What do you think the umbilical cord is for?

How can a baby boy be part of his mother's body?

Via the placenta, perhaps?

Does this mean that men are really part female?

Yes. Look at the cormosomes. XY = male, XX = female. Note the X in the male. When a man fathers a child, he contributes one of his cromosomes, either the X or the Y - if the X, the child is a girl - her girl-ness came from her father. That Y cromosome is just like an X chromosome, but for missing some material. A male is, in effect, an incomplete or defective female.

In a round about way, everybody is part female. We all carry the exact same 'female gene' in us. It's just switched off in males.

That aside, I don't think the argument is really relevant to the abortion issue. The issue we should be discussing is which life is going to suffer more, the mother or the child, and base our decision on that. All this talk about 'killing babies' is just nonsense intended to make people feel guilty about nothing in particular.

Actually, a fetus is a very tenacious parasite. Who are you to say if someone should allow a parasite to feed off from their body or not?
It's very convenient that the warmongers are pro-life, got to protect them so they can grow up and become cannon fodder.

parts or no longer, a fetus isn't seen somewhat one till after it truly is born. even with the actuality that it will extra than likely be seen one or the different as quickly because it truly is born, even the Bible stated as fetuses like Jesus Christ or John the Baptist a "element" even as they were contained in the womb. It stated as them a "holy element", yet nonetheless, a "element". in case you want adequate reason to ascertain that a toddler does no longer have a distinction of male or lady till after it truly is born, you are able to google theses words, "XX male syndrome" they're phenotype( they seem fullyyt male, and are male) men, maximum circumstances in each and each way, except that they are infertile( they don't seem to attend to to father children). they don't seem anymore liable to homosexuality, transgendered, or the different type of question of gender id or sexuality, that are born with 2 x chromosomes( the genetics, at conseption, equivalent to that of a lady). many don't even discover out till they're married to women human beings and are examined for infertility themes. even if, those are seen boys, they % out as boys, yet they don't seem seen so, till once they're born. Even gender does no longer formally start up at theory. in the different case those men, even even with the actuality that they are born with a penis, ought to nonetheless be said as lady. beginning is the position an persons existence starts. Its been even with the actuality that of that way in the course of all historic previous, via fairly a lot all and numerous, even God. do you want having been born with a penis, human beings nonetheless telling you you're and treating you lika a lady? If no longer, nicely than, your question does no longer make a constructive professional-existence argument. Oh, the position are each and each of the lines of distinction drawn in a Universe the position truly each thing relates? difficult to inform, in certain circumstances. difficult to inform.

yes all men are part female. That is why they cannot determine gender right away (as they all start out as little girls until the genitalia descends). Also, nice nipples. What do you guys use those for anyhow?

Split hairs all you want.

The moral question is "What causes more pain and less happiness in the world? Forcing women to bring into an overcrowded world people who are not wanted, or allowing a woman to terminate a developing egg/embryo/fetus before it has any consciousness or ability to feel pain?"

Most people think keeping abortion legal is the morally superior position, for obvious reasons.
