The simple fact is that, for the first time in decades, the plurality of the American people associate themselves with the Republican party. Liberals in the country are losing clout not because they lack a clear vision, or the guts to “stand up” to the President, but because their policies of the last decade have been an abject failure. They hitched their wagon to political correctness, expansion of entitlements, and appeasement of lunatic regimes, all of which have proven to be nags in a political climate searching for thoroughbreds. Democrats have failed not because they moved too far to the right, but because they moved too far to the left. Emboldened by American guilt over the civil rights movement, Vietnam, and the excesses of the 1980’s, they pushed forth an increasingly left-wing agenda that was no longer a reflection of the will of the people, but a pseudo-socialist vision of benevolent government taking care of its constituents.

Squawk the American people are the ones who who voted George W. Bush in office. The ones who serve in the military. The ones who support or military? You know those people?

Collectivism, aka socialism/communism, has failed everywhere it has been tried. I am amazed but am beginning to get the reason why a minority of americans are leaning far left of center, they believe it is possible to take control of america due to the laziness of the voters as witnessed by the socialists in congress. And they believe they are in the Vanguard of the Elite and will therefore not be subject to the negative effects of socialism.
I am also amazed that so many on the left like to believe that socialism is good and fascism is bad, and they do not have enough rudimentary research to prove it. Socialism and fascism are the same thing, from the same root for the same purpose and both are evil.
I would like to remind them that their ilk were cast aside once communism took hold in Russia, they were re-educated to produce labor, their lofty roles in politics and education were eliminated and they were replaced by the brutal people who did not believe the lies but had the fortitude to step on others necks while taking what they wanted. Beware lefties, it will happen to you as well.

Actually many Americans are starting to disassociate with both parties. The reason for this is simple really, we are sick of statements like these. The whole thing has turned into a he said she said argument where neither side can get anything done because they are to worried about there own opinion. Now I do not think either side is doing this to gain political power, I think they are doing it because they feel they are right. The problem is that they feel they are right so everyone else is wrong.
And don't forget, if you go to far left you get into communism, but if you go to far right you get into fascism. If the Democrats lost there power because of an exessive push towards civil rights, anti war, and a more equal economic playing ground, remember that the Republicans lost it because of lack of oversight, lying, bribery, and a refusal to look into the illegal actions taken by there own people. Which way would you rather go?

Sounds like something that was probably reasonably accurate several years ago, either right before the Iraq war or leading up to the last presidential election - but I'm guessing it may even have been writen before 9/11.
Today, the reps have lost too much face because of the war, as the last congrensional election showed. The pendulum swings, but it doesn't spend the same amount of time on at each extreme.

that was well said!
the only thing i disagree with is your comment about them not having the guts to stand up to the President.... that's about the only thing these cowards have the guts to do.
they'd never think of standing up to terrorists, criminals, gangs, foreign governments, jesse jackson and al sharpton or anything else that could pose a threat to them....
but they will stand up to George Bush, Republicans, Conservatives and Christians, because they know that they can get away with it.
other than that, you hit every nail on the head!
karl marx would be proud of the democratic party today in the U.S.

Uh...the people NOW associate themselves with the Republican Party?
Where the hell did you come up with this golden nugget of misinformation? Fox News?
Right now, most of AMERICA is gravitating AWAY from the GOP and its ideals, and embracing Democrats and theirs!

You are totally right. Without question, the far left is as close to socialism as I have ever seen it.
The libs forget that in order to look ahead, you must look at history too.

that statement is not true and the American people overwhelmingly voted in a Democratic Congress just this past November. Bush's policies have damaged our country and the future more than any left wing agenda.

What's really sad is that they're still trying to make us feel guilty about Iraq.
The farther left you go, the closer to communism you get. I found a scale that puts the presidential candidates on a liberal, conservative scale....guess how far left hilary was?
