Most of their fave pop stars lip sync??

Do they care that when they see them "live", it's a freakin recording they're paying for?

eg: Ashlee freakin Simpson...

YES! I *Know* lip syncing is not a new thing. BUT the difference with lip syncing today vs the past is that the practice is pretty much the norm today. That wasn't the case back then. It was the *exception* rather than the rule. Otherwise, the singers of the past delivered the Real Thing 9 times outta 10.

My favorite pop stars most certainly do (or did) not lip synch!

Only annoying, mass marketed teenybopper bullsh*t artists lip synch, and although I'm technically one of "Today's Kids", I certainly don't like that type of music, and I know many many other young people who feel the same way (i.e. Keyboard Rocker)

I much prefer Jethro Tull, The Rolling Stones, Janis Joplin, The Immortal Bob Dylan (his full name), Tom Petty and The Who over Avril Lavigne and those other bottle blondes any day of the week. The music that is considered "Pop" these days has none of the incredible talent and songwriting ability that rock and pop performers of the 60's and 70's had. And, like you said, they have very little, if any ACTUAL SKILL. Now, anybody with enough money and good enough looks can go and make a record and make millions, regardless of their total lack of talent (haha eg: Ashley freaking Simpson) The worst part is, that their fans actually seem to accept the fact that they can't preform, and alter their actual voices beyond imagining!

Artists from "back in the day" were real performers, with a real love for the music, as opposed to the money that came with it. All these new "artists" are complaining about how much illegal downloads are hurting their incomes, but really, to a REAL artist, money shouldn't matter! John Lennon once said something to the effect of "Music belongs to everybody, the music isn't the artist's to profit off of and sell, it belongs to the world to enjoy." That's a real musician.

Wow. This has really degenerated into a tirade against music today. So to address your question:

I think that many people today do care about the abysmal state of "Musicians" today, and the fact that they have to pre-record and alter their performances to sound even halfway decent, but many many more just don't care. I, and a lot of other young people, think it's really really tragic, the way that pop and rock music has been going down the toilet lately, but that doesn't change the sad fact that it is, and that most other teenagers don't care.

P.S. To Keyboard Rocker. The same thing once happened to me. I put The Who on the stereo in class one day, and a kid who claimed to be "The biggest rock fan ever" asked me, "What the hell is this Sh*t?" It made me want to bludgeon him with a copy of "Tommy".

That's not anything new. The track enterprise has been doing this for years. It is the one technique to insure that if the preformer screws up on level that you are going to listen the track appropriately. I realize that does not make a lot when you consider that, however I'm fifty one and again while Alice Cooper was once fashionable he used to do the identical factor and so did Led Zeplin.

Chuck Berry and Albert Collins would roll over in their graves if they knew what was going on in today's music...

The kids don't believe it. While looping and lip sync are not new practice, Heck ZZ Top made a career aout of looping some background stuff, it's out of control and the kids don't believe it. The record companies are insane now.

I am a kid 16 years old and I care. I hate new music that is horrible and marketed like crazy. Music should not be a fad like it is now I listen to jazz, classical, and good rock classic/prog. It would be a horrible for my kids that even though I may not know what they would be listening to being a 90's kid sucked majorly. But, though it is not marked you know John Williams still composes music for movies and it is great classical music. And, there are also new jazz artists like a student who graduated from my high school went to college and is now writing jazz charts. Why don't you hear about them people are now closed minded when it comes to musical taste. There was this kid in my class who likes rock but crappy new rock and when I played baba o' riley by the who on the stereo he asked what kind of **** is that i wanted to beat his brains out. Now it is closed minds the people are too lazy to look for music and now music is becoming inhibited in emotion. People are calling the Beatles sissys I know this because I am a teen. These people I want to just go away. I felt so re leaved and happy when in one of my classes I found a girl who likes prog rock. She knew who yes, elp, rush, pink floyd ect... are it suprised me and seemed almost too cool. I would have to say that us both being 16 we are 2 of a million who like great music. I think there is hope though I hope that as they grow up they will realize they have been listening to **** for too long. And todays music has no innovation and anything that sounds different from your typical song is called gay/weird.
