Website building programming question... keywords, title...?

I am just getting started with a small website business. I am beginning to understand about keywords, meta tags, and things. I was wondering though... in the 'title' section, is it good or bad to use your business name? (along with a few important keywords). I want to know what is best for the search engines. Thanks for any help.

The words betweent the tags is what a site visitor sees in the blue bar at the top of your browser window so yes you'd want to put Business name - Home page or Business name - Contact Us. That way if the site visitor bookmarks your page it will tell them what they have bookmarked instead of "Untitled page"

am a student and, if u r usin html, what i've learn is that titles must be as CONCISE as possible.
then use the keyword meta tag to provide an appropriate list of keywords for ur site.
also use the description meta tag to provide an appropriate description of ur web site.
remember that whatever goes between ur title tags appears in the title bar, even other tags such as header, or bold tags.

for instance,



will not display mysite in bold, but will rather display

mysite

in ur title bar!!

Please read up on the optimization described on pages 374-375 of Google Hacks - Brett Tabke is a seasoned pro in the realm of search engine attraction and has clues on not only where in the title but elsewhere on the home page you should put the name of your company!
