Come on, there is a way that black people act and a way that white people act. Maybe it's just the extreme for both colors, but sometimes both are entertaining and humorous. You just can't be too critical with either one. You know if you're black and see this typical white guy acting extremely white you have to laugh sometimes. The same goes for a white person watching a black person acting extremely black. And sometimes, just once in a while, you kind of admire the other color and it does make you want to act like them. You think it's cool the way they do and say things. But it is always best to be yourself, just like everyone is saying here. It would be best if everyone didn't get offended so easily and just let you act how you want to act. Your choice.

I'm not going to say whether your friends are good friends or not. Only you know that. I don't think there is anything wrong with "acting white" or "acting black," as long as it's not actually "acting." Be who you are, and maybe those traits are more identifiable with one race than another. Who cares? In my high school, some people once teased this black guy for being smart. He was "acting white." That's ridiculous. Being smart doesn't mean you're white and being black doesn't mean your stupid. Just be who you are and since your friends are true friends, they'll learn to just accept it.

You don't want to be around people that separate acting "black" and acting "white". There always seems to be power struggles in certain (various) groups of friends of a certain ethnicity. I think it's really wrong that you have to succumb to certain "generalizations" or "stereotypes" to "fit in" with your own race. Be friends with whomever you want and I would suggest not being friends that only like you if you act a certain way and not let you just be you. Don't get offended becuase you don't want to be seen as "acting white" but be offended that they would say such a thing to begin with.

Please tell us how someone "acts black or white." I find these comments very offensive. How would you feel if someone said a white girl was "acting black?" And her friends were ragging her about it?
You act like you act. I think you should be offended - not because they are saying you "act white," but because they are implying that is a bad thing.
People like your "friends" are the real reason racism is alive and well and thriving today. How can blacks demand equality when they don't treat other races as equals???

From, what little I know, it seems for some bizarre reason, if some Black person, talks well, studies hard and does well at school, they are acting "White".
How ridiculous is that?
Black or White, we all have aspirations to do well. We want to achieve somthing, make our parents proud of us.
To me, that's not being 'white' is being human.
Those that call you that, have the problem not you. Your true friends, should support you, whatever you do.
Can you make a list of things, that make you black, and what makes a person White. Other than skin color.
Not easy to do, is it?

I think that it is just as racist to say that a black girl is acting white as it is to say a white girl is acting black.
What does "acting" a color mean anyway? It is obviously based on some ridiculous stereotype handed down that is still used today as if it is alright to do so.
Enough already!

Okay you can't act "black" or "white" but I'm guessing they are reffering to being ghetto or being preppy. There is nothing wrong with acting like a sophisticated and intelligent person.

What do they mean by "acting white"? I'm not sure how you act like a skin color. I don't know why your heritage or skin tone should have anything to do with the way you act.

First of all there is no such thing as "acting white". That's just racist. It doesn't matter! You can act however you want to act. Personalitys are described by moods, quirks, and individual traits. Not skin colors!
