the Second World War, was a worldwide conflict which lasted from July 1937 to 1945.
The war ended in Europe on May 8, 1945 with the unconditional surrender of the Third Reich, and later in Asia on September 2, 1945 with the unconditional surrender of the Imperial Japanese Army.

Hitler invaded Poland on September 1, 1939. The Japanese bombed Oahu on December 7, 1941. Germany surrendered on May 8, 1945. Japan surrendered on August 15, 1945. From December 7, 1941 until the date of the Japanese surrender the United States was engaged in a world war on no less than five fronts. You need a new calendar!

August 15, 1945 - Emperor Hirohito officially accepted the terms of unconditional surrender. Sept 2, 1945 is when the surrender was signed on board the USS Missouri in Tokyo Harbor. You could say that WWII officially ended on 9/2, however, most people say that the war ended on 8/15
