Although I think there are societal factors that contribute to the increase in school massacres, we have to acknowledge that in this case the gunman suffered from a devastating mental illness.
His rant was completely irrational and paranoid; he had delusions that everybody wanted to torment him for their own pleasure. This condition is caused by brain malfunction, not social conditions. I think the only thing that could have helped him would have been to force him into treatment against his will. He was not rational. And the laws are such that it is extremely difficult to commit an adult for involuntary treatment or even lock him up.
In fact, he was allowed to continue in his antisocial way because of excessive tolerance. Some people knew he was dangerous but couldn't do much about it.
Conformity, after all, is not a prominent feature of college campus life, as I recall.

Totally agreed. I mean for example...
I read on Yahoo! an interview with a guy who went to highschool with him. He wasn't a very great reader and refused to when teachers asked him. He finally did and the kid said everyone pointed and laughed at him and told him to go back to China. And people wonder why this happens? It's pure cruelty pushing someone to the edge. I have no sympathy for him because he did take it much too far, but I don't think he is to blame, you can blame it entirely on like you said the "norm" ruling everyone that is not exactly the same as a bad thing.

This is a load of crap. It is part of our nature as human animals to point out what is different than normal. It can be just as good as it can be bad.
In addition, bullying does not create psycho killers. It may influence them, but they are already that way despite bullying. If everyone was somehow able to be nice to everyone else all the time (which is quite a stretch), these mentally disturbed people would simply find another excuse to go on a killing spree.
It is not anyone's responsibility to reach out to people and hold their hands until they grow up enough to not flip out and kill innocent people. It's a matter of personal responsibility. We cannot blame other people for our problems or else we will never overcome.
And if you studied the news you would see that people DID try to talk to Cho, and he ignored them. He created his own misery and is solely to blame for his frustration.
No one had a perfect childhood. The majority of us suck it up and get on with our lives. It's not our fault that one out of several million decides to take normal teenage frustration to a level that involves killing innocent people.

People will never realize it because it isnt true.
Basically, the people that do these school shootings cannot understand that there will be people that dont like them. If you chill out and be yourself, chances are good that you will find people who like you. Instead, all these little punks blame thier problems on EVERYONE ELSE because they cant take responsibility for thier own actions.

That is so true.
I am the type of girl who is different, than most people but i relate to everyone. i mean, when i was in school, i was "popular" and hung out with the "wierd" kids and popular kids. People dont understand that a hi can really change someones life or day.
This girl i knew, i mean, people used to always pick on her and talk about her because they didnt like the way she dressed. i didnt care, i thought she was cool, she was nice, smart, and didnt care what you looked like, she just wanted friends. At the end of the yr, she told me that just me telling her hi or talking to her, made her feel better about what was going on in her life.
I dont think that the shooter just suffered from being bullied, he also suffered from depression. i mean, everyone laughed at him and thought he was crazy, but could never just ask him anything. i think he wouldnt have done that much harm, if someone did reach out to him and just tried to be his friend.
Believe me....a simple hi or little conversation can make anybodys life change

I agree that dropping prayer in our faculties and an an increasing variety of non believing inhabitants has plenty to do with this. Is it plausible that with the introduction of television and the an increasing variety of unreal body images portrayed as being desireable by Hollywood that extra each body is being refrained from because they don't in good structure the picture? If a baby has pimples, is overweight, would not placed on in call for clothing, would not comprehend the thanks to in good structure in and has no acquaintances because of those issues-might want to abuse suffered over lengthy classes of time so desensitize youngsters that they are unable to have empathy for others-because no human being EVER had compassion for them? it truly is a very complicated situation with out uncomplicated answer yet i imagine that lack of social popularity is one component that lots of the children occupied with those massacres have in effortless. how lots of those youngsters grew up in antagonistic homestead environments with out parental training, supervision, love and situation? Are research being carried out to be certain what produces this variety of habit? i do not comprehend. All that i will do, in my opinion, is advance my children to be Christians, to exhibit kindness to those who're diverse, to coach values continually (certain, even to the point the position the children are yawning) and to desire.

So there is no personal responsibility? Come on. What crap.
So he got bullied and it is society's fault? Who in the world didn't get bullied in this world? I got bullied and you didn't hear of me blowing away my classmates. Life is hard. Quit blaming everybody else.
