Why do so many American housewives look worn out and haggish by the time they reach 35?

I see so many unattractive housewives these days that do not take care of themselves.

Only women with means ($$$$) seem to take care of themselves and stay looking good into their 60's.

well duh- anyone could look good with nannies, personal chefs,plastic surgeons, person trainers and fancy clothes

Many of these "unattractive" housewive's could look attractive too if they had the money and time. A lot of them are real knockouts when the get all dressed up, but they dont have time to do that every day. Besides, why get all dressed up to go to the grocery store or to pick the kids up from school. Many of them have husbands who wouldnt appreciate it even if they did take the time to put on makeup and do their hair. A person could ask the same thing about 35 year old husbands who look like slobs with big beer bellies and dirty, holey clothes. The American Housewife works harder than most people and deserves our respect and has every right to look tired.

Because for the most part we all work full time, take care of our children and cook, clean the house, do laundry, take care of the dogs or whatever, have sex with our husbands and still try to find time to take care of ourselves. Maybe if we could afford a maid we would look better. Actually, I know a lot of woman that are past 40 years old and still look like they are in their early to mid 30's. Oh, and by the way, there are plenty of men that don't look so great after the age of 35 either!!!

woman with $$$$$ have maids so their husbands run the maids ragged instead of the half human half barbie wife who has never worked a real day in her life. Do you realize what a woman does? not only do most work a job just like a man does, but then they come home to dishes laundry sweeping mopping kids dinner homework bathtime..... the list never ends. Most women manage not only their jobs but their households. So why dont you take some of the time you have on your hands to scope out a womans flaws and start doing a little more yourself. I want to see what you look like as soon as you finish scrubbing toilets.

I'll tell you why. Because we are too busy taking care of insensitive jerks like you who do not help us do one little thing. You do not cook, clean, do dishes, laundry or take care of the kids - (even tho' we still work full time because you seem to need us for our money also). Then when you come home-you expect us to jump into bed and romance you on top of everything else. You would never think to tell us - here's 100.00 dollars- go spend it on a manicure or go to a spa. You would never offer to do all the chores and watch the kids so your wife could spend time on herself. You are the type that would never pay for plastic surgery on your wife's stretched out tummy from having your children.(but it will disgust you- right?) And why do men always think that they look so good?? They walk around in bathing suits with scrawny butts and big bellies and still think they can get any woman they want. I could go on and on but I won't. Sorry- you really got me started. By the way- I am older- I still look good and do not have a lot of money but since my children are grown and I am not married (by choice) I have the time to take care of myself.

Some women, unfortunately have never looked good, and they aren't even 35, they're 16, and short of a Total Makeover, they never will.

And, obesity is rampant in our country, and the 30 year olds are products of that... This is not the case in Europe... you can walk all over Italy, or England, and see no huge people. Fly back into the US, and get off the plane, and OMG, oinker city. Did this last year, coming back from London into Dallas-Fort Worth. It was a shocker...........

Maybe that is not one of their top priorities. Maybe they are more concerned with making sure the children look nice, school work is done, laundry is done and put away, dinner is cooked, bills are paid, appointments are scheduled, going to PTA meetings, and other things than worrying about making sure they are magnificent whenever they step out of their home. I say housewives do as much if not more than most of us hard working 9-5er's. Give them a break!

Well, I can't tell you how good this makes me feel. After cleaning up the house all day, playing with my 2 kids, paying the bills online, making 2 meals so far and starting to prepare dinner. I will finishing up my day with a trip to the grocer after I feed, clean and put my kids to bed, all the while trying to maintain an adult conversation with my husband once he comes home.....uh....let me see.....where was I to fit in the time to make myself over for you? Maybe one day you will be proud of your own personal "haggish, unattractive" housewife. Or maybe you can pay for all the luxuries that are available via plastic surgery, nannies, personal assistants and chefs......better start making your millions now!

I think you answered your own question. If a woman has no means of extra $, it's hard to keep up appearance! I'm sure my husband would appreciate me having perfectly manicured nails, and tan skin, and sexy clothes, but he' s sure not forking over enough of the green to get it done! So why should he complain? Most men by the time they're 35 look like balding, beer-bellied whales, so who's a woman to worry about impressing anyway?

I am 38 and still hot I work out everyday and I do not have
a lot of money. So not everyone looks worn out . I think
you need to take care yourself, having a hot boyfriend helps.

There is no better beauty treatment than happiness. I am 45 and could pass for much younger. I was recently in Las Vegas and someone thought that I was the wife of my sons friend that is 21. It's all about happiness and are you bringing happiness into the lives of the women in your life ?
