I have a couple snails and I was wondering if you really need to give them a Calcium Supplements. I see a lot of liquid Calcuim that you add to the tank. Does this hurt the fish and frogs that are in the my tank? Right now all i have been feeding them is algae waffers that are made bye Hikari which they seem to like and so do my frogs and fish. Thanks for the help

The snails need to have calcium in order to have a good, hard shell. If your water is naturally hard, you might not need to add any. Most public water supplies will soften the water, so if this is the case with your water, you might need to add the calcium. If it's not available for your snails, their shells will begin to erode and get small holes, especially if your hardness is less than 10 DH/GH or your pH is less than 7.

Unless you keep fish that require very soft water, it shouldn't be a problem for you to add this.
