people come here for freedom and opportunity. i dont think they necessarily hate the US, but they probably dont agree with policy or our culture. sometimes i really really hate american culture. i cant believe the top rated programs are "dancing with the stars" and "american idol." some americans are so closed-minded about other things that are going on in this country or in the world, and know more about celebrity life than real life.

If somebody lives and studies in the U.S.A. and hates it at the same time, then they must feel like they need to learn something - you can hate something but still benefit from learning about it.

Besides, the United States is not perfect. People can like the basic ideals of this country without liking every little detail about everything.

There are many like you have mentioned! I think they enjoy our home with our freedoms and such but, many have been taught to hate us from childhood. Such is the case in the middle East! Yes, they want to come here and take advantage of our freedoms and such but, they never seem to trust "we the people" because they have been taught not too. Plus, our culural views on religion and such are so different from theirs...causes a huge gap of understanding one another as simple human beings!

First people come and love the U.S. because of all the things it has that their country doesn't have. Then they hate the U.S. because of all the nice things that their country had but the U.S. doesn't have. Then they end up liking some of what the U.S. offers but disliking having to give up what they think their country did better.

Perhaps they are speaking outwardly of their own frustration of having to leave their own countries to get what their countries could not provide for them and in turn blaming the states for being there in the first place. I am not sure if there is a term for it, so I will call it deflective thinking.

First of all, He does just hate USA. Im sure if he stayed in Korea, he would have hate Korea also. Secondly, it was the depression and paranoia that is causing him to hate, no no matter where he was, he just had pure hate for everyone and everything around him. I hope that explains your concerns.

It's fashionable to be a liberal. They want to be in the "IN" crowd. My grandmother immigrated here...she kept the local store open just because she bought so many American flags! She would say how brave the American soldier's are, and how wonderful they are (rescued her and my mom's family from German occupation) I'm sorry you keep meeting these ungrateful immigrants...that's not been my experience with immigrants. Even many of the mexican immigrants are so excited and pleased and grateful to be here, and treat me like I gave them personal permission to come here. Maybe because I treat them with common respect...I dunno.

That makes me crazy. They come here to take advantage of what our country has to offer and then they badmouth us and put our country down. I;m sorry, but if they feel that way, they should stay put and not come here if they hate it so bad.

Maybe they're just jerks. Or perhaps, they hate success, but would like a part of it.
