It completely depends on the individual TRIBE.
SOME tribes go by quantum (how much blood) others by LINEAGE.
In order to qualify for any "American Indian" grant, you have to provide a ROLL number, and CDIB (certificate degree of indian blood) from the BIA (bureau of indian affairs).
Even after you get these documents the tribes roll book might be CLOSED to enrollment.
In the end you HAVE to be an ENROLLED MEMBER of a FEDERALLY RECOGNIZED TRIBE.
Just checking the box won't cut it.

NO..it all depends,on your proof of membership to a tribe. Which more than likely means you sit with the tribal council, or other office leaders, and prove you are a part of the tribe you claim to be...in that case you would have to present your family history and if they are familiar or accept your proof you will be given another trial in the tribal courts to get a family member from that tribe to do a dna and from there they get more proof n if you are a positive to that family you will, be given a census n id for your tribe.....so it is not that ez unless you have the proof which is a long process, plus it all depends if that tribe has the money to get paid education, or has grants

It's not a question of percentage. It's a question of being on the official Tribal Roll of one of the tribes that gets those benefits. Each tribe can decide that as they see fit based on percentages, parent membership, or charitable donations.

In Canada it is one eighth to receive status. Status definitely includes college grants.
