I'm on Yahoo Messenger and people can't IM me unless I allow it. I usually allow anyone who sends me an invite. So far no one has turned out to be weirdos or bothersome. I'm not too popular, it's not like I have a bunch of people who want to chat with me, I pretty much only chat on a regular basis with my buddy who lives out in California.
Every now and then I get an IM message that says something like "Who are you and why do I have you on my buddy list?" All I can respond with is "dunno." LOL

I will only allow those who I know or those of those who I trust since there are a lot of people out there who are crazy or someone who is trying to get to your good side and then they automatically use you, so I try to see what kind of person they are first before I add them to the Instant Messanger.

Only if they want to IM me which only happens to me some times. I only allow it because I want to talk to the person who IMed me.

I believe in a fair compromise.. I allow emails.. email me and I will give you my IM screen name .. saves me the drama of people reacting impulsively and having to regret it later.

I was too dumb to figure it out so my money was wasted because I removed the program. It seemed like no one else had one anyway.
