A miracle.. are you kidding.. Canada does not want to become part of the corruption that is our government now.

Being good and cooperative neighbours is fine.. but believe me.. Canadians would revolt if their government tried to make them part of the U.S.. and i can't say I blame them.

A treaty between the US and the other country. They would then, I'm assuming, become territories which could then petition to become states and they would have to follow the path to statehood as outlined in the US Constitution (pretty much, both the potential state and Congress have to agree to it).

There was some talk that some of the provinces of Canada might do this if Quebec walked out of Canada and the rest of the country dissolved (this was several years ago). I don't know how serious it was, but considering the recent elections in Quebec, I suppose it might come up again.

Annex them! Consolidation is the global economic trend and a big-time North American merger would do wonders for the Americas' competitiveness on the world scale.

Additionally, domestic Real Estate and Lending industries would see unimaginable growth as a result.

Finally, I can't think of a better way to counter China's massive U.S. currency holdings than to merge with Mexico and Canada and form a whole new currency.

It's a good idea. My understanding is that the Bush Administration is quietly working on it (see link below).

ADDITIONAL DETAILS: Europe did this years ago and the result has been economic prosperity beyond anyone's wildest expectations. The EU has centralized and consolidated economic and diplomatic power in Europe, effectively making a bunch of second-tier countries a major player on the world stage (i.e. against the U.S.). Some asian states including China are currently working on a similar arrangement.

Never happen! Canada is too smart and they have their own laws and any match-up with Mexico would only benefit Mexico.

Thay already are, as regards economics, thanks to NAFTA.

As for other aspects of life, such as government, we are all better off for leaving things as they are.

For example, Canada has more sense than to get into absurd foreign wars, and domestically shows wisdom in keeping government meddlers from dictating to gays who they may or may not marry as if the gender of your chosen partner is the government's business.

On the other hand, Canadians are lucky to have the US next door with the much greater freedom of speech and superior justice system in the US. Our freedoms should not be subject to compromise by merging with other states.

An act of congress, and a complete loss of sanity on the part of the Canadians.

Stop dreaming. That will NEVER happen. Canada is having enough trouble keeping itself together to even think of merging. Citizens of all 3 countries aren't eager to relinquish their sovereignty.

Canada would probably have to get rid of Quebec because we do not want those frenchies sullying us. Mexico would be harder. Maybe we should just invade them and use them as a practice bombing ground like the french did with Tahiti

The second coming of Christ, George Washington, Mickey Mouse and Mahatma Gandi - all rolled into one. Not a chance.

Very easy... Just tell them, "You are now part of the USA!" They would have to accept it as both would be powerless to stop it...
