Coppertone Oil-free Sunless Tanning Lotion in Light/medium. I have tested close to every brand of self tanner on the market since 1989 from Clinique, Estee Lauder, Revlon, Lancome, all health/beauty store brands, even 2 salon formulas. Lancome has a great leg tanner, but for my skin it feels a tad greasy. Coppertone delivers the best color to us fair gals, it is not greasy nor drying. I was extremely impressed with its wear. No, I am not a coppertone spokesperson. I was however a makeup artist for 12 1/2 years. Do use an exfoliator the 1st day you self-tan. Clinique has an excellent one. Put a moisturizing lotion on your hands first. This will help prevent tan hands. Also, put this moisturizer on your elbows, knees, ankles and your entire toe area. Apply lightly. Now you are ready to tan. Start at your neck and blend the tanner on your skin like you would apply foundation to your face. Put more of the product on your larger body parts and blend from there to the smaller parts. (ex. apply tanner to your calf and blend from there down to your feet) Always blend and go over your applications several times. After you finish- use your exfoliator in your palms and wash your hand with this, then wash with soap and warm water. Scrub between your fingers well and wash several 4-5 times. This is important when you are fair skinned. Don't worry about your tan hands right now. Just remove the tanner from your fingers and palms. Dry your hands and apply a moisturizer to the palms and inside of your hand. Take a cotton pad ( not ball) and apply a small amount of the self tanner to the pad and apply to the tops of your hand and spread out over the tops of your fingers. Envision how the sun would tan the tops of your hands. Blend up and past your wrist area onto your arm. Your done. I know this is detailed but, I am one of the fairest people I know and believe me, this will work. We are an entirely different customer for self tanners - us fair girls! I can get a better tan with the Coppertone than I could ever/"never" imagine from the sun. Good Luck. You'll look great!

I did, and I'm really pale. Neutrogena used to make a great spray on tanner for light-medium skin. But they discontinued it except for the medium-dark skin tanner. It was great while it was still on the shelves.

I use the ones that build a gradual tan over days. I have used Jergens and am currently using Neutrogena. Either one works fine. Just make sure you chose the one that is actually designed for light skin tones. You're not going to see a dramatic difference.
I like it b/c no one would ever suspect that it's fake(very subtle) --plus it keeps me from blinding people with my white skin! lol
Be careful around your knees , ankles, elbows-- the usual spots that turn orange.

the kind that gradually builds a tan has worked fairly well for me in the past, you can get lotion with sunless tanner 'built in' made just for light-to-medium skintones

YES-i currently use the aveeno brand and it has given me a lovely golden tan-the jergens stuff looks a little fake and smears a lot-especially on legs-oh and use the face self tanner too, it really works!!
