I've seen rated R movies on tv.......the bad words were replaced with words that sounds the same and/or means the same thing, dubbed by another voice...........the rating I think they gave them was M for mature.

the more extreme scenes were just deleted or shortened

We dont have rating on UK TV - just a watershed of 9pm after which time it is assumed young children won't be watching.
I don't think '8 MIle' has been shown here yet but it's unlikely it would be edited ('American Pie' wasn't) and it would be very unlikely that words would be 'bleeped out' these days.

LOL...your message made me laugh! What century are you living in? You think "8 Mile" and "American Pie" are vulgar?? Love to have you see some of my gay porn...*FOFL* I don't believe in censorship!!!!! The editing and all that crap that they did to good shows like "Sex and the City" or "Soprano's" when they took them off HBO made them unwatchable. I say nada against editing of any kind from an original format-it ruins the movie (;; I don't know what kind of rating they give it-probably MA which I guess means "mature" but you'e not mature if you believe in avoiding seeing things that happen in real life. Just my opinion pal.Bo
