is it considered socially unacceptable to talk about your lifes issues.

i have only asked a couple of questions so far but some were personal issues and problems.

I read and respond to a lot of hurting people. I don't think everyone is afraid to ask, but a few are. I feel that when a person opens up to us in the form of a question, they quite often are making the first move to get help and/or support for their problem. Of course there are people who don't really have valid questions or answers, but I feel this site is very helpful to a lot of us.

What makes you say that? A LOT of people ask about their personal problems on here.
"Why is it accepted that you don't?" What does that mean, that everyone should be FORCED to talk about their personal problems to total strangers?
I can't agree with that.
Yes, it's generally unacceptable to talk about your life's issues to everyone you encounter.
If everyone constantly unburdened themselves to everyone they met, the poor victims would be deluged with problems that don't really concern them and over which they have no control.
They wouldn't have any juice left to live their own lives.
It's one thing to confide in a few people close to you (as long as you also let them confide in you), but general telling everyone on the planet everything about you?
Not only unwise, but unpleasant for people who are just trying to live their lives.

Not everybody has a need to talk about themselves at nauseum day in and day out. Some people are curious about other things. Just my humble opinion.

I don't know what part of yahoo answers you frequent, but most of the questions I see here are about personal problems. Are you reading carefully?

Loads of people come on here to ask about their personal problems, it's just that they don't drone on about them all day every day in the psychology section ! ! !
