The Surfer Beach Hotel. It's just a sidewalk away from the beach. It's at 711 Pacific Beach Dr. Not the nicest hotel, but rates aren't too bad-124.00 a night. We used to stay there all the time.

Search for hotels, motels and cottages located on Ocean Front Walk. That's the stretch of beach from Pacific Beach to Mission Beach. Tons of places will pop-up. You just need to pick your price. My favorite is the Best Western Blue Sea Lodge at OFW and Pacific Beach Dr., it's right on the ocean. I lived about 4 miles from the ocean in San Diego and the Blue Sea Lodge is where I would vacation to every so often.

If you want exactly what you asked for, I suggest the Crystal Pier Hotel....which are cottages located on a pier directly over the beach and out into the water. So you can literally stumble from your bed, falling onto the beach....or you can walk the pier for 1 minute back to shore and back down onto the beach. It's not too expensive either, considering it's prime location....very unique!

Try the Catamran Hotel in Mission Beach. Located directly across the street from Mission Beach and the Boardwalk. Right on Mission Blvd and many of their guest rooms face Mission Bay and their largerTower rooms have excellent views of the ocean.

There are several properties that have this room type. The only way to determine better which one is right for you is by what I would suggest contacting a local travel agent. They can ask you various questions to help determine where they feel is best for you.

Many agents do charge a nominal service fee. Please though don't contact an agent, get the info out of them and try then booking on your own. Anyone then to do that is taking advantage of the expert advise a good agent is giving you.

Have a Great Time!

There are lots of hotels with views of the water. However, if you want a hotel on the beach go to this site for info: http://www.sandiego-romantics.com/san-diego-beach-hotels.html

Of course there's the Hotel del Coronado, but all things considered, I'd pick that hotel that's located right on the Cove in La Jolla (I just can't remember the name). You do have to cross the street though.
