Yes, antibiotics can casue diarahea(sp?) that can cause the rash. They can also kill good bacteria, and make yeast/thrush thrive with shows up as a diaper rash.
If shes 6months+ try feeding her yogurt. But low sugar. Sugar also contributes to yeast. Also yogurt (from cows milk) doesnt cause the same digestion problems as cows milk for under 1 year olds, so dont worry about that.
If it is yeast she might need a prescritpion for something like nystantin, but our pharmacist recommended trying lotrimin when we had it.

I have 17 month old identical triplet boys, and from October through December they had double ear infections every 2-3 weeks we could not seem to get rid of. At first they were getting a horrible diaper rash which concerned me, b/c they would scream their heads off during the change. They would eventually get through the meds but the ear infection always came back. One of my boys got so bad I took him to urgent care where they gave him a different med but in the same family as the other. The next day he had really bad diaper rash and he boke out in a horrible rash all over his body which lasted about 4 days. We took him to the Dr. immediately and found that all the meds were penicillins. The Dr. advised me that each time we exposed them to the penicillin their reaction would get worse. We tried a different med that was very expensive but it did not cause diarrhea and they have not had an ear infection since. I can not remember what it was called, but I am glad that they finally got rid of it.

All antibiotics are well known for giving babies a diaper rash. Go buy some Johnson 3in1 diaper rash ointment and that will take good care of it. Also limit the intake of fruit juice while the child is on antibiotics. Fruit juice will only make the rash worse.

It absolutely could be! Is the rash kind of red, raised bumps? My doctor told me to get a cream from Walmart that is over the counter. You will find Tanactin in most drug stores, and if you compare ingredients, you can save money by buying the store brand. You rub it on the rash twice a day, and you should get relief. At least for mine, they cleared up within several days of quitting the antibiotic.

antibiotics commonly will give a person a yeast infection and yeast infections can present themselves in diaper rash form and your doc will have to test and treat it with a prescription creme. best thing to do in the meantime is try to keep the diaper off if possible the air will help with the irritation. triple paste works really good too

How old is the baby? Is she old enough for yogurt or kefir? Antibiotics upset the natural balance of yeasts, and an over growth causes the rash. Is there loose stools too? Yogurt is great! Ask your doc for a antifungul cream or go buy some lotrimen at the drug store. Check the inside of the babies mouth for thrush also, (white patches) because generally whats at one end, started at the other.

i could try changing diaper manufacturers. I had to alter to seventh technology diapers because of the fact my infant is allergic to the fragrance and different ingredients that they put in Pampers and Huggies. I definitely have heard that textile additionally works nicely for babies with mushy epidermis. He had consistent rash for months and that i attempted each and every type of cream and lotion, and as quickly as i ultimately switched, there develop into not greater rash of any type. additionally, the wipes could supply him an extremely painful rash, even the "mushy" ones. the Pampers mushy wipes could supply my infant the worst rash ever, whether I only used it as quickly as because of the fact i develop into out of the living house or some thing. So I used cotton pads with sparkling heat water, and if i necessary greater cleansing, I used slightly Cetaphil cleansing soap. Now i'm waiting to apply the seventh technology wipes on him, yet he's plenty older now.

Yes. Some antibiotics can give a baby a yeast type rash. If it is a raised area thats probably what it is and you will need some prescription cream to clear it up. Call her Dr and see what they say.

Definatly. Its called a yeast rash... red and kinda bumpy?
Whenever you give anti-biotics, you need to give pro-biotics as well to keep the bad bacteria in check. You can pick it up in powder form from a health food store.
For the rash, you need to take her to the doctor... or genitian violet is known to get rid of yeast.
