Early 20's....not before 23. That's when the frontal lobe of the brain has completely finished developing...it controls our executive decision-making, our psycho-sexual development takes place as well as other areas of growth and development. You wouldn't have a 4-year-old run a 26-mile marathon, would you? Or a third grader tackle calculus....you'd wait until that part of them has developed sufficiently enough to "fully participate" in the desired activity...to do so too soon would surely be detrimental to their growth and development. Don't we condemn a society that forces children to "grow up too soon"?
Incidentally, that under-developed frontal lobe is what causes teens to be so reckless....no seatbelts, drinking and driving, experimenting with drugs, etc. Its what prompts the "it'll never happen to me" attitude.
"The frontal lobe is not very well developed until the early 20’s. How does this affect teenagers? Immature behavior and risk-taking come from an under developed frontal lobe. Once the frontal lobe develops it can put a break on impulsive behaviors. When students leave college at 22 and show mature behavior we think they have finally learned their lessons. That may be partially true but it is also the time when the frontal lobe is better developed. A 22 year old brain thinks that it is dangerous to drive a car at 80 m.p.h. A teenage brain thinks it is fun and doesn’t think about consequences until they regain consciousness in a hospital bed. Teenagers don’t anticipate consequences and dangers well because the connections ARE NOT working".

The only "right" age is the legal age of consent in your state. This can vary from state to state greatly. Minors do NOT have the right of consent and cannot legally become sexually active. Of course, if you don't mind your boyfriend going to prison and being registered as a sex offender for the rest of his life, then do as you will...but that is the most likely outcome, particularly if you become pregnant or get a sexually transmitted disease from him.

When you have the common sence to always use protection or when you are able to take care of a child finacially and emotionally. I don't think there is a right age. however many girls in there tearly teens regret not having waited to have sex, because they realize later in life when they really truly find the right person they wish they had waited. Plus sex after adulthood and when you have matured emotionally is far better.

Whenever you are financially and emotionally capable of caring for a child. While this doesn't mean as much to those partaking in same-sex activities, it is a good gauge for determining whether you are now adult enough to handle sexual activity.
Unfortunately, this would be 22-23 y.o. or later for most people.

There's really not an age...neither for being lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgendered...
lol
It's all about instinct, I've known "kids" who have been sexually active at the (in my opinion) early age of 13, or even less!!! and not precisely because they were abused....it was their free will acting there....so, if you feel you want it go on, but later you face the consequences, whether good or bad....

One has the "right" to be sexually active when they can cope with the consequences. Can you buy your own birth control? Could you support a child if one resulted? Do you have your own place or could you rent a motel room for the night for the activity?
If not, you aren't old enough yet.
