Because they have no life. Sorry to say Idol Fans but I AGREE 100% with this one. The music business is just that, a business and people should have to work hard to make their way up the ladder. When these so called American Idols get to skip that part they lose the value in what they actually have. Great question man!!!!

personally, i dont believe in american idol. it's basically taking anyone and giving them the spotlight. what about actual real musicians that had to work to get record deals and such. american idol is telling people to be their own person, but they're singing already famous songs? how does that show personality and how is that being unique and different to stand out? all it is basically is a beauty contest. most of the pretty girls on there cant even sing anyways. and what happens to the people that do win? look at rueben or fantasia or whoever else won that no one even hears about anymore. chris daughtry didnt even win and he's doing amazing.

It is not a disgrace. Many of the winners, the runner ups, and those who have been in the top 12 or less gone on to have recording careers or other roles in movies and television.

Why do ppl watch the Real World? Or soap operas? There are dumber things.

Well, for it being so bad, according to you, there sure is alot of people watching. I'm one of them! Turn the channel if you don't like the show.You want disgrace to the music business? Try rap/hip-hop, leading contender for trash, if you ask me!!!!!!!!!!

Good question... nothing good has ever came out of it. Mainstream music is so terrible these days, it's all advertised to middle school girls. I don't understand why millions of people tune into it to see singers ruining old songs.

Well this year a lot of good artists have performed on the show..not the contestants...such as Martina McBride...she's amazing...
