Valkyrie means Woman Worrier do you really want to name your child that?

************************************************
I found this info on Valkyrie & thought it would be helpul...

"In Norse mythology the valkyries are dísir, minor female deities, who served Odin. The valkyries' purpose was to choose the most heroic of those who had died in battle and to carry them off to Valhalla where they became einherjar. This was necessary because Odin needed warriors to fight at his side at the preordained battle at the end of the world, Ragnarök. In Valhalla the valkyries also “serve drink and look after the tableware and drinking vessels” (Prose Edda Gylfaginning 35).

It appears, however, that there was no clear distinction between the valkyries and the norns. Skuld is for instance both a valkyrie and a norn, and in the Darraðarljóð (lines 1-52), the valkyries weave the web of war (see below). According to the Prose Edda (Gylfaginning 35), “Odin sends [the valkyries] to every battle. They allot death to men and govern victory. Gunn and Rota [two valkyries] and the youngest norn, called Skuld, always ride to choose who shall be slain and to govern the killings”.

With that said how about naming your daughter like

I like Valkyrie-I think it is a beautiful and noble name. You could look to other legends of mythology or to literature or to old family names that are no longer common. Here's some ideas: Morgaine (Old English form of Morgan pronounced Mor gain); Isolde, Guinevere, Ophelia. I am sure you will find something beautiful for your daughter.

I respect your decision to try something different, but a name like Valkyrie sounds like the name of a new prescription drug ex: Valtrex. This baby will eventually go to school.

I am concerned how so much unusual a baby name you want to name your baby, because the danger of using a unique name, especially if it is very unusual, is that while it may make your child stand out from the crowd as she gets older, may stand out too much and can lead to teasing. Please don't take this as personally. It is just my opinion. I like the names that are used very little these days either "Victoria" or "Sadie." the feminine and princess names.
