I did some research and I found out that rosy red minnows arent supposed to have heat in their water...is this true?

if so, what should the temperature be? 65?

i went to petsmart today and it said 65-75 but some other sites said 50-70.

thank you!

No, they don't require heat, but they are tolerant of it. A farm pond near me has these (great source for free bait! - and I have the owner's permission). They'll stay around the shallows in vegetation where the temperature is regularly around 80 in the summer. This is higher than you'd probably be keeping your RES. They're kept in chilled tanks in the pet store (as feeders), but can be acclimated to warmer aquaria. I keep a feeder tank in my basement (tank is room temperature) for a ribbon snake and frog I keep.

The only time the temperature would really come into play is if you were planning to spawn them - then you'd need a lower temperature.

BTW -rosy reds are just a color variant of fat head minnows - you can find even more info on them if you look them up under that name!

i admire rosy cheeks! actually, I positioned on blush well-known to reinforce my rosiness! while you're that self wakeful approximately it nevertheless, you will desire to purchase some commencing place (the liquid stuff) or pressed face powder. which will conceal up the rosiness, yet nonetheless bypass away a small peachy undertone. ascertain you do no longer purchase it from, like, the greenback shop or some thing, given which will make you seem somewhat chalky and pretend. i take advantage of Maybelline from the drugstore for sort of $3-5. it works splendidly and you're able to't even tell that i'm donning powder and commencing place!

No they do not need heat. The colder the better. 55-70 65 is a good number but a little cooler is better.

We always keep them in the frig for when we go fishing.

Rosy reds are tropical fish. They're fine in the same tank with the same temps as your RES. They won't live long anyways because they'll be eatten.
