Actually, it's 2031 when the asteroid makes a "buzz by" Earth....only to "sling return" back---and hit Earth directly in 2038.

Be assurred, NASA and other think tank agencies are working on the problem. Logically, firing a mega-nuke, as depicted in the late 70's film "Meteor" is dumb: doing so will make mini-asteroids instead of just one.

The asteroid is made of metal, so a more sensible approach would be to send hyper-magnetic craft to "tow" the asteroid out, in effect--"nudge" it off course.....and have it miss Earth totally.

Facts amiss and all aside: for certain--we DON'T want this thing hitting our planet. Thought to hit Earth's vast ocean part of the planet--it'll surely create a tusnami that will destroy the greater part of lower Asia (wipe out) and Russia, China (both countries left with less than half of each country) and surely will wipe Japan off the map. Yes....radical climatic changes will follow us in the US as well.

You don't have to guess what'll happen if this thing were to hit the USA directly.

No they didn't. It will definitely miss and it's a few hundred feet across so it couldn't hit all those countries at the same time. You got some bad, bad information.

it most likely will miss, but if it hits..it will be the end of the world as it may cause a massive tsunami that may wipe out half the world, it will also cause major climate changes
