Please advise how I snap the infant car seat into the shopping cart. Thank you.

I would take your baby into Babies R Us and get help from the ladies at Customer Service. They showed me how to do it and were very nice. As a result I am a huge fan of that store and go there for everything! Ideally the baby seat will fit in the spot where you used to put your purse, the seat where bigger kids sit.

Some car seats do not fit in the smaller carts, so I would always have my Baby Bjorn carrier with me so I could just carry the baby on my chest and not have to bother with lugging that heavy seat around.

Best of luck to you. I vote for a trip to babies r us and ask for help. They are very nice people.

I just slip the indentation with the clip over the backrest rail of the shopping cart seat and it locks on. But it doesn't fit all carts. If I don't have to get enough items to fill the basket of the cart, I put the infant carrier into the large basket then stack my items in the front seat and around the infant seat in the basket.

It will depend on the car seat, but most don't snap into a shopping cart...they just have grooves that go over he handle and the back. Your best bet would be to either use the baby seats provided (just clean them first) or to put the baby's seat in the basket not in where the older kids sit.
my seat was a Graco, and it had little hooks on it that would connect to the back of the cart but it always made the seat go too far back and it didn't look comfortable.

Just set it in there, it oughta sit there, but most don't actually lock on the cart. If you knock it or jiggle it'll come off. My son had a Safety1st (same as eddie bauer and cosco) and the way his fit it sat too far upright to be comfortable for him in most carts, especially Target. I second the lady who said she used a sling. It's a MUCH better option! Slings are where babies would prefer to be anyways, right there close to mom. It doesn't take up valuable cart space on big grocery runs, AND you don't have to worry about the seat getting knocked or being too far up or down for him to be comfortable, nor do you have to use the very dirty seats provided that are already attached to the carts. Slings are great, most can be worn with baby lying down, sitting up, sitting on your hip, even sitting on your back. They're very versatile and leave your hands free. Best $40 you could ever spend, or buy one used. Also, slings promote better attachment of baby to caregivers, rather than them sitting in one contraption after another (swing, bouncer, bassinet, crib, cradle, car seat, high chair) and keeps baby happy while you do your stuff.
Once baby can sit up on his own, keep using the sling or get a floppy seat, it covers ALL the cart seat as well as doubling for public high chairs.

Some seats are equipped for this; others aren't. It's impossible to tell how to do your specific seat; you should check the owner's manual and see what it says. :)

That said, I *despised* lugging around infant carseats, bruising the crook of my arm and the side of my leg with all of the lopsided lurching. With my first baby, I gave up on that around 2-3 months and just carried her in my arms everywhere. When my 2nd baby came along, I needed an extra hand for my toddler, and I discovered the comfort and ease of sling-style baby carriers. Nowadays there are so many different styles, much better than the "snuggly" carriers and back-pack style ones that were common when my oldest was born years ago. Here is a great website to check out different types of carriers:

Babies seem to enjoy shopping trips and outings much more when being held anyway. I can't count the number of times I lugged in the carseat or a stroller, and ended up carrying/pushing the huge thing around while trying to balance baby in the crook of my other arm. A good carrier saved me from all of that!

Best of luck! I hope this has been helpful to you. :)

There is usually a little clip thing under the car seat. It's the part that clips in the base, buy the part you have to release to get the carseat out. Just make sure that clip is latched to the top rail of the cart. The bottom should fit right in. Just make sure when you are ready to get the baby out you release it like you do in the base.

I like the Graco Infant Safeseat. It has a higher weight rating than the snug ride as some babies grow beyond 20 lbs by 12 months or earlier. If your little one does not max 20 lbs by 1 year you can continue to use the seat anyway until 30 lbs. It perfectly OK to continue rear facing after 1 year and some pediatricians recommend rear facing for up to 18 months.

i can never get that thing in right, and it always looks like it is going to fall over or off the rails. I put it in the large basket - lessens the amount of things i can get, but i feel safer that way
