Don't blame authorities. Bullets move much faster.

I think its tragic. I feel as though the young man should have had help a long time ago. I also feel sad for the fact at in America we wait until the tragic event happens and then prepare for it to happen again verse always being prepared for the worst. After all the school shootings within just the past decade alone they should have been able to handle this situation much better than they did. My prayers and deepest condolences goes out to all family and friend that have been affected by this horrible tragedy

It was a tragedy that was senseless and could have been avoided but the cracks in their system in Virginia let a mentally ill person roam around and buy guns. In the state of Virginia ... a gun shop owner cannot have access to a persons mental history....

If the person involved was not mentally disturbed then I would condemn this massacre to be a dastardly act of cowardice.Innocent people need not have been killed in the gruesome way that they were. I would like to take this opportunity to say that my heart goes out to the families of all the victims and it is my ardent hope that the souls of all those innocents that were killed on that fateful day, rest in eternal peace.I hope that these families are given enough strength to deal with their losses. If the perpetrator was mentally unstable, it should have been the prerogative of the relevant authorities to recognize the problem and take measures to solve it immediately. With timely action in this regard, this tragedy could surely have been averted.

Well, i mean what can you think. i mean, you have this kid who is an outkast and is very unattached to reality. he was taking meds for depression and was checked into a mental hospital in 2005. There were more signs of violence the entire time he attened vt, but no one stepped in and did anything about it.

he was removed from classes, and he was talking to counselors. Again, no one did anything. when something happens and sees the signs of a person on the verge of doing something life altering, they never do anything about it. but when something does happen, they wonder why it happened in the first place. it was obvious that this kid was going to eventually do something, even the students joked that he will be a school shooter. It happens and now they want to say....we have to prevent this from happening again.

They say that with every single shooting, and then when there are signs, this isnt prevented...once again....society never believes that anything like what they see on tv can happen to them until it does.....hmmmmmm....dont know what to think

I feel so sad for the innocent people who lost their lives. I felt like the gunman had no right to do that. Regardless what was going on. If he was teased or whatever was going on, he should have just went on w/ his life & not have worried about that. People use to give me a hard time but that don't mean I wanna shoot them. So why did he wanna take that route? I know me & him are too different people but he just made a stupid decision. There were other ways of handling his issues & he chose that way so that makes him a punk. He wanted to bring people down w/ him & that ain't a good decision.

If only i would have been there, i would have done something to stop him, that's me i like being a hero, everytime there's a lockdown at my high school i think about how a guy with a gun would grab me and hold a gun to my head, then i sock him in his face. Thatt's why i want to be a SWAT officer, save people expecially schools. I'm not afraid of dying either, i'm willing to risk my life for 10 others. At least that way i will be remembered, if only people would respect it when someone dies for them, unlike some people at my school.

It's crazy to think that I'm a college student and people my age with soo much potential and so much more to live for wont even see their graduation date, first child, buy a home...anything. It's truly unfortunate and I just pray for the families who have to cope with the deaths of their loved ones.

It's tragic but at the same time I feel kind of bad for the shooter...he wasn't mentally stable but he was also probably bullied a lot by other kids and that takes a toll on people's mental health......that doesn't give him the right to kill anyone and I feel horrible for the families that lost someone or had someone injured.....but it should make people think twice about teasing someone

When I heard about the shooting, I was actually wondering how someone as mentally unstable as the shooter could even get a gun. It would be like giving a gun to......Me!

I think that this is when people who are not directly effected show their mettle. Having recently had a tragedy in our family gave us better insight to the grief that everyone is feeling. Allowing a grieving person to vent is the kindest thing you can do for them right now. Thanks P&S I appreciate how you rallied around me. I now join you to rally around others that need us all.
