i presume you pick them up and put them some where else when cleaning them out that is why they are scratching you.my first question would be how old are your guniea pigs if they are a few months old they wont be very tame if this is the case ,when you pick them up wrap them in a towel to pick them up and stroke them, that will make them feel more secure and prevent you getting scratched.good luck

They aren't trying to scratch you; they actually can't get enough leverage to do any harm. It has to do with the fact that their nails land wherever their feet are. It's not a behavior issue that you can simply find a way to stop.

Trimming the nails regularly will help, plus it's a smart idea anyway. I've also found that a few bricks in the cage (especially right under the water bottles) also helps keep the nails dulled, but there's really no substitute for periodic clipping.

you will no longer be able to maintain a guinea pig from laying off; it is organic. it is in all risk been laying off lots these days in view that's dropping its iciness coat. you are able to administration laying off by using brushing your guinea pig daily with a slicker brush to eliminate the undercoat. this might desire to cut back the quantity of hair that gets everywhere else and shop your puppy looking sharp.

you could trim thier nailswhich would help, but i think they may be scared of you. if they are young then this is the case. you need to let them get used to you and they will be less nervous and stop scratching you.

If this is not he case, you can just wrap a towel over them and gently pick them up. they will find this more comfortable than u carying them anyway!
