When you say Woes (problems) we can look at that two ways. Personal and World problems. Science is a study of things and causes so, I would answer this question with, No science is not the main root of our woes. World or Personal.
People are the main reason for any Woes you or this World may have. We are the controllers of what happens to us. Do you let the World tell how you are going to live?
Science No...

If you like, you may take off all your clothes, abandon all your knowledge, and live among the trees and animals without any scientific influence whatsoever. I've observed that pretty much nobody is interested in doing this, however. This suggests that if science is actually the cause of all our problems, nobody realizes it.
Likewise, if science WERE truly the cause of all our problems, one would expect that more science might cause more problems. We could look at the arc of history and find people who were happier and happier until we got to the first primitive humans who lived in a state of bliss. This is not something we observe either. So again it would seem that there's no correspondance between science and unhappiness.
It would also seem to be a pretty easy task to prove that science has completely eliminated some problems, even if perhaps it has also created new ones. People today don't really have to worry about polio, for example, even if they do have to worry about gasoline prices.
It would be ridiculous to assert that NO problems were caused by science... there are just too many things that are quite obviously problematic that would never have arisen without scientific development. But I think, on the whole, that science solves FAR more problems than it causes.
Nor do I think that most of the problems that are caused by scientific development are necessary for its continuance... it is economic reasons more than scientific ones that allow them to persist.

Hell NO! All our woes are a result of a lack of love...
Around the world people are literally starving to death because private companies have a financial stake in usurping land, water and other resources, and taking these away from idigenous populations.
But its NOT the fault of the technology, or the science, which these companies use... Its the necessary love, empathy, and respect which these companies consistently FAIL to employ when making company decisions. In free trade capitalism, the most highly valued activity is to make more capital...
When companies ignore the value of other things, when they only have love for MONEY, and no love for humans, the environment, etc, is how and where they help to create woes..
Of course, then, too, it is the CONSUMER'S contribution to this tangled web of money-worship which exacerbates the situation of no love for fellow humans and mother earth...

No, I think all our problems are caused by people who use "is" when they should use "are." Not to mention that "woes" means being upset or subject to bad luck, not "problems."
More broadly, I think our problems are caused by poor education.
I suppose if you think ignorance is blissful you could blame science for "woes." Science is a tool to understand the natural world so, if you don't want to understand, science could make you upset.

No. The collective problems facing humanity are a result of human nature. The collective solutions to our problems can be found using our human nature to its best potential. Science is a specific set of steps in a method used to answer questions of the universe. As in any method devised by humans it can be applied to benefit or to harm. Without the application of scientific theories of mathematics and physics that ultimately led to computers and the internet, you wouldn't be reading my words right now.

If you are given a knife, it's upto you to use it as a tool or a weapon. In case you use it as a weapon, knife cannot be blamed for murder.
Science is not at all the reason behind all our woes. Our own desires, ignorance, impatience, greed, etc. cause woes.
All the best...

Its a mix of science and religion.
People start wars in the name of religion (not for religion itself), and then science builds horrible weapons to wage the war with.
