Saddam Hussein kept a very tight grip on his people and suppressed the violence we are seeing there now. When he was removed from power, it all came boiling out.

The reason Saddam Hussein wasn't removed from power back in the 1990s by the first President Bush is easy to understand now. Doing so would have left a power vacuum and resulted in Iraq dissolving into civil war.

We opened the door and now it is happening. When we leave Iraq, it will continue until someone gets the upper hand or the Iraqi people themselves rise up and say enough is enough and start turning in all the insurgents.

There were indeed death squads in Central America in the 1960s and 1970s but, the US was NOT an occupying force.

I did not know about the U.S. occupation of Central America. I lived there once and have read a lot of History. Can you give us the specific times the U.S. occupied Central America? Any specific country or all of them. There are many there.
