If someone is feeling sad and lonely and "nobody likes me" enough to go shoot a bunch of people, with the idea that "after this everyone will know who I am", even to the point of making a premeditated video, why do we do exactly what they want? If we didn't give them the limelight after they go on their killing spree, would it lessen future attacks, if it is the standard that they will get no more attention for this than they do right now?

Don't blame the media for airing the video tape - it is a part of the story - it shows just how disturbed this young man really was, and hopefully will act as a warning sign so that others will intervene in other cases to prevent this kind of tragedy from happening again. NBC got the video tape, but they Cho could just have easily sent it to CBS, ABC, Fox News, etc.

To an extent I agree. The media is playing into exactly what he wanted, so in his eyes, he wins. However, I think the attention and emphasis should be on the victims so that people give THEM the recognition that they deserve. Its a double edged sword I guess. But in my opinion, they should stop showing his face, his voice and his name on TV and radio and news papers. And instead, focus on the lives touched and lost by this brutal tragedy.

It's obvious... because the public is fascinated by events like this. Look at yourself, your on a yahoo site talking about the incidents. The news companies and media play what people want to see. Things happen and if you can't handle watching it or hearing about it, dig yourself a whole and leave your stupid comments to your self. We don't like in a perfect world.

i agree with you, although I think it id good to shoe the signs that lead up to the events, they should show everything. I say focus more on the victims, their lives were taken when they didn't want to die.
